Use the distutils eclass, it's at your disposal. This ebuild installs the gconf stuff in the wrong place btw. If there's no sedding going on, the sed dep can go of course. Basic QA, just don't bump and fix so it builds, but make sure it does the right thing as well.

I already wrapped up an ebuild, check it out.

@liquidx : check it please, i'm not too familiar with the distutils/python stuff. I miss something like G2CONF there btw. Couldn't the eclass set --prefix & --sysconfdir by default to be sure ?
