Description Fernando Tarlá Cardoso Lemos 2004-02-17 15:35:49 UTC
Shouldn't the package xfce4-base contain only base packages? This isn't what is happening. xfce4-base comes with xffm (the file manager, undestandable) and xfprint, although they aren't needed to run XFce4. Even without a configured printer, cups must be emerged bacause xfprint depends on it.

That's it, xfce4-base is not so that basic. The xfce4 package already comes with those packages, and I think users that install xfce4-base instead of xfce4 do it this way because they don't want extra stuff to be installed without need.

I suggest xfce4-base to be modified, or another package to be created, using only the really basic stuff. Because it's somewhat annoying to have to inject the packages manually. :D

I will probably do some cleanups when 4.2 comes out, until then I'm closing as won't fix
