Description Sergey Popov gentoo-dev 2012-06-01 19:22:18 UTC
After upgrade from util-linux-2.18-r1 to util-linux-2.20.1-r1 there is no /bin/more binary, which causes strange behaviour in some utilits(for example vtysh complains about missing 'more' binary, symlink to /bin/bb does not solve problem)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have uclibc-based gentoo system
2. Update util-linux to 2.20.1-r1
3. Check existence of /bin/more binary
Actual Results:
/bin/more is missing

Expected Results:
/bin/more is exists and can be executed

my emerge --info(made from chroot, host is amd64(glibc), chroot is x86(uclibc)):

phantom / # emerge --info

emerge -pv util-linux, is USE="ncurses" enabled or not? disabling ncurses would disable more.

then attach also config.log from the econf run, like:
# FEATURES="keepwork" emerge util-linux
now you can find the config.log from /var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/util-linux... hit tab... find work directory...
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-06-04 00:28:38 UTC
and build.log too just to be sure

FEATURES="keepwork" emerge -1 util-linux failed:

* Failed Patch: util-linux-2.20.1-no-printf-alloc.patch !
 *  ( /usr/portage/sys-apps/util-linux/files/util-linux-2.20.1-no-printf-alloc.patch )

without FEATURES="keepwork" emerge -1 util-linux built fine, but no /bin/more. Now i will try to build it with ncurses...

Yep, enabling "ncurses" USE-flag resolve this issue. Maybe it should be mentioned in pkg_postinst?
