Description Paul Hewlett 2004-02-16 00:59:29 UTC
There are 2 places in the alpha installation process that call emerge viz :

          emerge sync
          emerge system

Many of of the emerged modules (in fact most of them generate the following
msg :

gawk:/lib/rcscripts/awk/cachedepends.awk:72:fatal extension:cannot open '/lib/rcscripts/filefuncs.so' (/lib/rcscripts/filefuncs.so: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory_

/var/lib/init.d/depcache:/var/lib/init.d/depcache:no such file or directory

* Failed to cache service dependencies

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Follow alpha installation procedure at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-alpha-install.xml
2.Watch installatin when emerge sync or emerge system are executed
3.
Actual Results:
The error message described in Details occurs for every package emerged

Expected Results:
No error message
