As discussed on gentoo-dev[1], please drop the use of custom game prefixes and games group limitations and install games alike regular packages.

No thanks.  We're happy with the way it is right now.  Pointless churn is pointless.

The /usr/games prefix is a non-issue as all of the $GAMES_ paths have always been user-configurable.

Just a note: user "games" is independent of group "games" as-is, and the only use of user "games" I can see is /usr/games being owned by games:root (whereas on older Gentoo installs /usr/games is owned by root:games similarly to all other related directories).

Another note: /usr/games is FHS-compliant, see http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html.

It's not pointless once you don't have to deal with user/group games-related bugs anymore.
