Same problem happens on my stable machines as well.
Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-05-22 13:41:15 UTC
That's because of the autotools.eclass change, no doubt.
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-22 14:37:56 UTC
the code base uses AM_GNU_GETTEXT as autoreconf warns:
autoreconf-2.68: configure.ac: AM_GNU_GETTEXT is used, but not AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION

gnulib itself ends up calling AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION, so eautoreconf thinks that it's active for the overall system

imo, lftp should be calling AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION ...
Comment 3 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-05-22 15:48:27 UTC
Yes, that solves the problem, although I don't see how upstream would accept this patch.
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-05-22 17:22:44 UTC
Now that autopoint runs successfully, the ebuild fails to install anything gettext would actually help install. Some way or another, po/Makefile.in.in gets moved and rewritten. It seems like the build system shouldn't be using the gettext macros the way it does.
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-24 02:25:20 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)

gettext is intended to be used with AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION

(In reply to comment #4)

i see lftp.mo installed on my side, and afaik, that's all the install target should be doing in po/ ...
