When trying to emerge kemistry, at some point the compilation stops with an error, telling me, that the porgramm po2xml is not to be found. The solution was simple, but required some search for a package, that contained po2xml. emerging kdesdk did the trick for me. I do not remember any manual removal of po2xml. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. make shure, that the testing system is free of the po2xml tool. clean the system of any package containing it. 2. emerge kemistry 3. there you are. Actual Results: at some point, the compilation stops with an error. Expected Results: perhaps automaticaly install kdesdk or at least po2xml I don't think it will help, because now everything works: Portage 2.0.49-r21 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.4.22-gentoo-r4) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.22-gentoo-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/ ftp://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/gentoo-mirror/ rsync://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/gentoo/ http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo rsync://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.join.uni-muenster.de/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo rsync://ftp.join.uni-muenster.de/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt cups encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gpm gtk2 guile imlib java jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
Thanks for the hint - the line defining the dependency was there, but a little too early in the file. Seems to be overwritten. Moved it a bit lower, it seems to work now.
