Description Nilesh Govindrajan 2012-05-18 08:49:24 UTC
I updated genkernel during a world update and then compiled a new kernel, but it failed to boot. On checking grub.conf/menu.lst I found that genkernel had added title=Gentoo Linux (3.3.4-ck) [I know ck-sources is not supported, but this is an issue about genkernel] which seems invalid, though grub didn't complain at boot.

Further, the initrd was added as intird which caused the failing boot. I used the grub 0.97 command line to boot manually then.

Please provide patches. Afaik grub support is known to be broken, no idea.

Patches? Do you mean fix or details? Yesterday another update to genkernel was released, I'll check if it has the same bug later.

Grub 0.97 was working quite well, I'd been using it to automatically add new kernel entries since a long time.

Genkernel 3.4.33.1 was released, and it seems to have solved this bug of initrd becoming intird. Though it does insert title= which is not problematic.
