Icewm saves its default config files in /usr/share/icewm.  configuration, menu defaults, etc..all go here.  When icewm is re-emerged, these files get overwritten without warning.

When icewm is re-emerged, these files get overwritten without warning.   <==== this is true for any distro, which is why the files tell you to copy them to /etc/icewm/* or ~/.icewm/* please read the docs
