The "Danger Mouse - The Grey Album" MP3s that were recently publicized on slashdot and are available for download here: http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html lock up XMMS. When any of those MP3s are loaded, XMMS freezes up and starts using 100% of the CPU. I have tried this on two different systems with two different sets of CFLAGS, and the lockup has occured on both machines. MPlayer plays these MP3s just fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. download one of the MP3s from the download site 2. start xmms 3. load the mp3 in xmms Actual Results: xmms locks up and uses 100% of the CPU Expected Results: start playing the music. :)
what output plugin are you using for mp3s in xmms? mpg123? mad? Check Preferences->Output plugins. Also, please provide the output of 'emerge info'
err input plugin...
I am using mpg123 on both machines. Ok, I've verified this with xmms-1.2.9-r1. What version of xmms are you using?
I am using xmms-1.2.8-r4 on the x86 machine and xmms-1.2.9-r2 on the ~x86 machine.
I can confirm that this album also crashes other music Kaboodle. The MP3s are broken.
I downloaded those mp3s with bittorrent and they work fine in xmms-1.2.10, ~x86 I don't think this is gentoo's problem. maybe check these md5sums for your files: 85637ca6af6d698790ab551367cd288c 01PublicServiceAnnouncement.mp3 2271474409b10009e3a139ea8c25dec5 02WhatMoreCanISay.mp3 18f6a719bf7c11874f4f7c0e1b07e865 03Encore.mp3 af2c264a90c7bafea7dc4d9e04233da7 04December4th.mp3 5b9ec00e8a5b122d3c3ce42ea16287e1 0599Problems.mp3 0e22a52ee35e9ce9bbff4ca40583969a 06DirtOffYourShoulder.mp3 786f7c1157b929fe0d618e4642f0e697 07MomentofClarity.mp3 753b905e4c438842c65e9bfa29635281 08ChangeClothes.mp3 a483b828b458e8d87453a024dd9db0ee 09Allure.mp3 f73ccabb5b642e5cb8a59f993eeea11f 10JustifyMyThug.mp3 790821d68d6b9bf9470d335e84db99c5 11Interlude.mp3 79cb432e9fe952ae92dc023720a7495f 12My1stSong.mp3
yep, 1.2.10 seems to fix it. =)
