Attach full build log. The error in the snippet is meaningless, as it's not the first error.
Created attachment 311997 [details] swftools complete build log Here is the complete build log as requested. It's compressed as I don't remember which is the etiquette regarding big files. Please forgive me if it should have been not compressed.
Comment on attachment 311997 [details] swftools complete build log According to the log, with errors like: InfoOutputDev.h:158:27: error: 'Link' has not been declared or BitmapOutputDev.cc:1091:30: error: no matching function for call to 'SplashOut putDev::useShadedFills()' /usr/include/poppler/SplashOutputDev.h:217:17: note: candidate is: virtual GBo ol SplashOutputDev::useShadedFills(int) the problem seems to be incompatibility with recent versions of poppler
(In reply to comment #3) > Comment on attachment 311997 [details] > the problem seems to be incompatibility with recent versions of poppler But why any of this would affect the ebuild if, per bug #412423, swftools PDF support is disabled?
The actual version of swftools doesn't compile with poppler, this is why it's disabled. It's disabled in a rude way, patching the Makefile. Not every occurence has been removed from the build scripts, hoping it will work in the near future. I found your build.log contains: checking pdflib.h usability... yes checking pdflib.h presence... yes Can you please tell me what package installed these? I don't have these on my system.

(In reply to comment #5) > I found your build.log contains: > > checking pdflib.h usability... yes > checking pdflib.h presence... yes > > Can you please tell me what package installed these? I don't have these on > my system. media-libs/pdflib-7.0.2_p8
This package is no (more) in the portage tree. I should say it's not supported, but this is not the way I fix the problems, but I couldn't test it. Can you please test the patch I just uploaded here?
Created attachment 312033 [details] swftools-0.9.2-r1.ebuild This build tries to not build pdf related things. I'm not sure if it fixes the bug, because I couldn't reproduce it yet! It removes unneeded dependencies: coreutils: I made ln -s to create relative links without the -r switch !<ming-0.4.0: these packages removed anyway a long time ago. I think it doesn't matter anymore. poppler: we will need it, when we will have working poppler support.
