The if_ plugins try to get the speed information from iwlist and fail. munin-node detect the failure and don't make if_* discoverable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.munin-run if_eth0 config 2. 3. Actual Results: graph_order down up graph_title wan0 traffic graph_args --base 1000 graph_vlabel bits in (-) / out (+) per ${graph_period} graph_category network graph_info This graph shows the traffic of the wan0 network interface. Please note that the traffic is shown in bits per second, not bytes. IMPORTANT: On 32 bit systems the data source for this plugin uses 32bit counters, which makes the plugin unreliable and unsuitable for most 100Mb (or faster) interfaces, where traffic is expected to exceed 50Mbps over a 5 minute period. This means that this plugin is unsuitable for most 32 bit production environments. To avoid this problem, use the ip_ plugin instead. There should be no problems on 64 bit systems running 64 bit kernels. down.label received down.type DERIVE down.graph no down.cdef down,8,* down.min 0 up.label bps up.type DERIVE up.negative down up.cdef up,8,* up.min 0 /etc/munin/plugins/if_wan0: line 124: [: too many arguments /etc/munin/plugins/if_wan0: line 135: * 1000 * 1000 : syntax error: operand expected (error token is "* 1000 * 1000 ") down.value 682289722853 up.value 322915835352 Expected Results: graph_order down up graph_title wan0 traffic graph_args --base 1000 graph_vlabel bits in (-) / out (+) per ${graph_period} graph_category network graph_info This graph shows the traffic of the wan0 network interface. Think I'm having the same issue here as if_ graphs are also broken and getting the same error. I have commented out the munin-1.4.6-if_-hardened-v2.patch in local overlay and my graphs are back working again. I'm not using hardened on this particular machine. emerge --info Portage 2.1.10.49 (default/linux/arm/10.0/server, gcc-4.5.3, glibc-2.14.1-r3, 3.2.14 armv5tel) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-3.2.14-armv5tel-Feroceon_88FR131_rev_1_-v5l-with-gentoo-2.1 Timestamp of tree: Fri, 22 Jun 2012 00:45:01 +0000 ccache version 3.1.7 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 4.2_p20 dev-lang/python: 2.7.3-r1 dev-util/ccache: 3.1.7 dev-util/cmake: 2.8.6-r4 dev-util/pkgconfig: 0.26 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.1-r1 sys-apps/openrc: 0.9.9.3 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.68 sys-devel/automake: 1.11.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.21.1-r1 sys-devel/gcc: 4.5.3-r2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.6 sys-devel/libtool: 2.4-r1 sys-devel/make: 3.82-r1 sys-kernel/linux-headers: 3.3 (virtual/os-headers) sys-libs/glibc: 2.14.1-r3 Repositories: gentoo x-misc ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="arm" ACCEPT_LICENSE="* -@EULA" CBUILD="armv5tel-softfloat-linux-gnueabi" CFLAGS="-O2 -ggdb -mcpu=arm9e -mtune=arm9e -pipe" CHOST="armv5tel-softfloat-linux-gnueabi" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -ggdb -mcpu=arm9e -mtune=arm9e -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FCFLAGS="-O2" FEATURES="assume-digests binpkg-logs buildsyspkg ccache collision-protect distlocks ebuild-locks fixlafiles news parallel-fetch protect-owned sandbox sfperms splitdebug strict unknown-features-warn unmerge-logs unmerge-orphans userfetch userpriv usersandbox usersync xattr" FFLAGS="-O2" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.qubenet.net/mirror/gentoo/ http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/gentoo/ http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gentoo/" LANG="en_GB.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--hash-style=gnu" LINGUAS="en en_GB" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --human-readable --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/mnt/gentoo-overlays/misc" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="acl apache2 arm bash-completion berkdb bzip2 cli cracklib crypt cups cxx fortran gdbm gnutls gpm iconv modules mudflap ncurses nls nptl pam pcre pppd readline session sockets ssl subversion tcpd truetype unicode usb vim-syntax xattr xml xorg zlib" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache cgi cgid dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" CALLIGRA_FEATURES="kexi words flow plan sheets stage tables krita karbon braindump" CAMERAS="ptp2" COLLECTD_PLUGINS="df interface irq load memory rrdtool swap syslog" ELIBC="glibc" GPSD_PROTOCOLS="ashtech aivdm earthmate evermore fv18 garmin garmintxt gpsclock itrax mtk3301 nmea ntrip navcom oceanserver oldstyle oncore rtcm104v2 rtcm104v3 sirf superstar2 timing tsip tripmate tnt ubx" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LIBREOFFICE_EXTENSIONS="presenter-console presenter-minimizer" LINGUAS="en en_GB" PHP_TARGETS="php5-3" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7" RUBY_TARGETS="ruby18 ruby19" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="fbdev omapfb dummy v4l" XTABLES_ADDONS="quota2 psd pknock lscan length2 ipv4options ipset ipp2p iface geoip fuzzy condition tee tarpit sysrq steal rawnat logmark ipmark dhcpmac delude chaos account" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, PORTAGE_BUNZIP2_COMMAND, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, USE_PYTHON
Can you please verify with 2.0.2-r1? Upstream merged and fixed that patch so it should work fine. Otherwise I need to find a way to actually understand what's going on as it doesn't fail here.
Fixed in net-analyzer/munin-2.0.2-r1.
