Description David Cuddeback 2004-02-13 20:51:33 UTC
Installing from the x86 Basic LiveCD, I downloaded the Athlon XP stage2 tarball (and I have an Athlon XP) and following the installation guide, I did 'emerge system'. When it got to PAM it failed due to an illegal instruction. Changing my CHOST from i686-pc-linux-gnu to i586-pc-linux-gnu and removing the berkdb USE flag seemed to solve the problem.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot from x86 Basic LiveCD
2. follow installation guide using Athlon XP stage2 tarball
3. emerge system

Actual Results:
sys-devel/pam-0.77 failed to compile due to an illegal instruction

Expected Results:
emerged pam

!!! No gcc found. You probably need to 'source /etc/profile' to update
!!! the environment of this terminal and possibly other terminals also.
