emerge --info

After upgrading VLC to the latest unstable version (2.0.1), I became unable to view MKV files with DTS audio. Downgraded to 2.0.0 and was able to play those files.

and output of vlc -vvv when trying to read the sample will give hints on what to look at

please reopen with this information and sample
