1. Please mark stable as per: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38880 2. Small fix needed in the init.d script ~/.mpd/mpdconf needs to be changed to ~/.mpdconf 3. Please add many keywords, it should work in bsd, as it's in ports, and should work in many other archs i.e. amd64 and it would be nice if all were added so we could get these tested. Thanks in advance
Please mark this stable: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38880
oh, and please be sure to add 'amd64' to the supported platforms, as gentoo on amd64 is my primary dev machine now. Thanks for you help and assistance.
Hmm. looking into commiting it stable, meanwhile, why is an init script accessing a user's directory... That isn't how init scripts are supposed to function. Particular reason? I'm a bit hesitant to have a daemon go hunting in a user's directory, since it doesn't strike me as good policy.
OK, after speaking with the main dev about it you're _very_ right :), can you please remove that part of the init.d script completely, we'll fix that completely in 0.10.0 (possibly after a 1.0.0 release). Thanks for the suggestion.
Well, the thing is even if I remove that portion of the init script (specifically the check for it), the binary will still go looking for that file. The init script's check [ -f ~/.mpdconf ] tipped me off to the problem, but ultimately the problem is in the binary. Possibly patch it? I don't use this daemon, so I'm not really sure how much this affects a user... so suggestions would be appreciated :)
If your worried about which config script mpd actually uses, just pass the config script explicitly, ie.: mpd /etc/mpd.conf Then obviously it will not look for it else where. Just a suggestion, -the man
Commited.
Brian, Thanks for your help! I *heart* gentoo.
