Description Gregg 2002-06-25 09:46:41 UTC
Ok, emerge started acting up on me (exiting a lot of ebuilds with errors.) So I
tried for a newer portage (I was on 1.9.10, tried to merge in 1.9.13-r1.)

Then everything was worse, so I did the portage-rescue. Now I try to unmerge
portage-1.9.13-r1 and I get

>>> Unmerging sys-apss/portage-1.9.13-r1...
!!! pkg_prerm() script failed; exiting.

Thats it, I am screwed right now, someone please help me.

If anyone from the team who might get assigned to this wants access to the box
or would do it that way to see the errors and try and get it fixed, I am more
than up for that. I just need to get this fixed and for all I thought I knew,
its over my head.

perhaps you should upgrade to portage-2.x and forget about pre 2.x

Try Portage 2.0.7, and there's no need to unmerge an old version of portage if
it's giving you problems.
