There was a news message at 27.04.2012 to switch to libjpeg-turbo. I tried this, but portage want to merge media-libs/jpeg again because of nxclient. So I changed the ebuild to the virtual and remerged nxclient again without error. The program loads, but I have not tried to connect to an NX-server. Maybe someone could test the NX-client with libjpeg-turbo and then change the ebuild.

Yes, and correctly so. It depends on media-libs/jpeg:62 which is the binary-only SLOT because nxclient is binary-only software which won't work with virtual/jpeg or libjpeg-turbo.

You should have these installed:

virtual/jpeg
media-libs/jpeg:62
media-libs/libjpeg-turbo
