Please attach that build log to this bug report.

Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-24 23:38:56 UTC
Thank you. Now please attach the config.log as well as the environment file (both of which the attached build log oddly fails to mention).
Comment 5 Robert Hughes 2012-04-25 15:12:24 UTC
Where are these files located?
Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-25 16:23:17 UTC
The emerge output should tell you.

Most likely:

/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/apr-1.4.5/work/apr-1.4.5/config.log
/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/apr-1.4.5/temp/environment

I guess the sandbox violation is somewhere at "checking for working sem_open... no". In configure.in, lines 2090-2118. How that ends up checking in /lib64/rc/init.d/ (cwd?) I don't know.

Comment 11 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-05-16 17:55:49 UTC
It looks like this depends on where /dev/shm is mounted (first).
Comment 12 Bigbug 2012-05-16 18:34:55 UTC
Mounting /dev/shm resolve this issue. Thanks !
Comment 13 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-17 01:17:09 UTC
looks like that file is being implicitly created via the POSIX shared memory API. glibc defaults to /dev/shm (which is supposed to be mounted as tmpfs), and if it can't find one, it goes searching for some tmpfs mount which in this case is the state dir openrc has mounted.

the boot scripts take care of mounting /dev/shm automatically. if you've unmounted it, or something else, that's something you should fix. not a big in the build, glibc, or sandbox.
Comment 14 Robert Hughes 2012-05-17 19:44:32 UTC
none /var/tmp/portage tmpfs size=3G 0 0 - Added this to fstab to have a tmpfs
PORTAGE_TMPFS="/var/tmp/portage" - Added this to make.conf

I'm still getting the access violation.
Comment 15 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-18 01:18:00 UTC
if you do not have a tmpfs mounted at /dev/shm, your system is broken. FIN.
Comment 16 Robert Hughes 2012-05-18 17:16:17 UTC
I created the /dev/shm directory, gave it 1777 permissions, than added shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev, nosuid, noexec 0 0 to fstab and it worked. This is a fresh install. Weird that wasn't included in the base layout. I have other gentoo servers that all this was already included.
Comment 17 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2012-05-18 19:46:12 UTC
there is no need to list it in /etc/fstab. openrc automatically creates+mounts that when you boot the system in the default setup.
