It seems that vimpart, which is now a standard part of KDE 3.2, doesn't work by default in Gentoo. I've configured KDevelop to use the Vim Component, and when I try to open a source file, the editor pane takes a LOOONG time to come up, and when it finally does come up it freezes permanently before even initially painting the window. In short, the Vim Component is completely unusable. And now a short prayer: "Oh lord! Oh king of kings! Send me an IDE with VIM keybindings!" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure the "Vim Component" in KDE Control Center. Set it up to use either X11 Client/Server mode or DCOP mode. Click the "Test" button to make sure it passes the integration test. 2. Open KDevelop. 3. Configure KDevelop to use "Vim Component" as the Editor. 4. Try and open a source file. Actual Results: The editor pane freezes indefinitely, and KDevelop no longer responds to user interaction (although it is possible to exit from the WM menu). Expected Results: The editor pane should've fired up normally, with KVim embedded inside. Is this still an issue with KDE 3.2.3 and KDevelop 3.0.4?
running kdevelop [ ~I] 3.1.0 (0) kdeaddons [ ~I] 3.3.0 (3.3) after selecting the embedded vim component opening an editing window gives a KCrash: Application 'kdevelop' crashing...
I, too, have the same problem using the latest stable KDE, KDEVELOP and gvim. Configuring KDEVELOP to use the VIM editor causes an immediate crash after opening any file.
