There is a new version out and the old ebuild works. Only change is new dowload location. Supersedes bug #39744. Diff is below:

1.7.8 is out, it needs a newer openbabel.
Btw, we have a special URL scheme for sourceforge stuff. The homepage needed an update, aswell. Done, thanks for the hint(s).
