it appears that media-plugins/gst-plugins-vp8 needs <media-libs/libvpx-1.0,
here is the exact error:

make: *** No rule to make target `//usr/lib64/libgstbasevideo-0.10.la', needed by `libgstvp8.la'.  Stop.
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
emake failed

the build log is included as a file.

This seems to be wrong. It seems you have deleted /usr/lib64/libgstbasevideo-0.10.la libtool file, installed by media-libs/gst-plugins-bad. Current eclasses require this file to be present, and not blindly removed with an excessive rm /usr/lib64/*.la

That said, there is some newer libvpx version better compatibility in a newer gst-plugins-vp8 release, but one for the vp8enc encoder element, and not a build-time problem

Thanks Mart, that was the issue. It seems libpng15 system break up left unforgetable traces behind.
