Description jeremiah 2012-04-15 03:22:58 UTC
starting the Mac OS X prefix setup, but when I "emerge --oneshot sys-apps/grep" it stopped at the automake dep with "checking whether autoconf is installed... no
configure: error: Autoconf 2.60 or better is required.
Please make sure it is installed and in your PATH."
blah/usr/bin is in PATH, autoconf-2.68 is at blah/usr/bin/autoconf-2.68 and I have installed a whole other range of versions of autoconf

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge automake or emerge --oneshot automake
2.
3.
Actual Results:
configure: error: Autoconf 2.61a-341 or better is required.

Comment 1 jeremiah 2012-04-15 03:41:56 UTC
got grep installed by emerge --oneshot --nodeps dev-libs/libiconv and emerge --oneshot --nodeps virtual/libiconv; but it didn't install automake
Comment 2 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2012-04-22 09:40:07 UTC
autoconf probably comes from autoconf-wrapper. Any idea why your portage says:

shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent

?
Comment 3 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2012-06-30 11:30:51 UTC
I can get past this point when bootstrapping, so I suspect your problem is related to your cwd problem
