I did have to unmerge my old xfree (version 4.2-r12) but this new version is good. Another 
quirk is that I had to rebuild QT and create a symlink to /usr/X11R6/lib/libXft.so called 
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXft.so.1 or else most X programs would not start, I ask you to automate 
this link to make it easier for the wee ones.

it's just a play ebuild, not for general release.

okie then I am also experiencing broken ttf support in kde.
