When the 2004.0 CD boots the experimental (2.6.1-gentoo-r1) kernel, it has ide-scsi emulation built in and places that drive at /dev/sda. When the mpt modules are loaded manually later, it places the drive at /dev/sdb, and you can't make it go to /dev/sda for installation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot 2004.0 livecd on a computer with mpt fusion drives and ide zip/cd-r drive 2. boot experimental kernel 3. modprobe mptbase 4. modprobe mptscsih Actual Results: Hard drive is located at /dev/sdb and zip drive is at /dev/sda. ide-scsi is built in to the kernel and can't be unloaded. Expected Results: ide-scsi should be a module so that the hard drive can load into /dev/sda Computer has two IDE cd-rw drives and one IDE zip drive and one MPT fusion drive.
Already fixed in kernel-config. Will take effect on the next cd-release
