poppler-0.18.4-r1 fails to build with an error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Please find attached the build log.

You need to learn howto read the build.log. 

This line from your build.log:

"/usr/bin/g-ir-compiler: error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.4: cnnot open shared object file: No such file or directory'

In this context really means:

"The package owning file g-ir-compiler is still linked against older version of libffi. Please, recompile it now to link against newer version."

I'll leave you to figure the rest.
