on rsync1.uk, running the normal 

rsync -rlptDz --delete rsync://rsync1.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage/ /home/gentoo/rsync/

I'm getting:

rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (125 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(189)

have done, at these times:

Problem has gone away - was something to do with a world-update on the boxes
