The zvbi library from zapping.sourceforge.net can be built without X installed. I want to use it with my PVR-250/350s to capture some closed captioning text with their vbi interfaces. Most of these boxes are servers; they do not have X installed and are strictly console driven. I made a modest tweak to the 0.2.4 ebuild and created a 0.2.5 ebuild for the latest release. It simply checks for the X USE flag and ignores X, gtk, etc. if that flag is not set.

If user does not have X in his USE flags (or -X), this ebuild will not build
xfree in order to build zvbi library.

i'll add that zvbi 0.2.7 is now out

(so is media-tv/nxtvepg 2.7.0)

Closing this bug since the ivtv driver has changed significantly in over a year. My how time flies.
