Shouldn't this file be located in /usr/share/portage or even /usr/share/doc/portage, rather than in /etc?
Huhu? Does anyone have an opinion about this? Otherwise I'll just close the bug ... it's not exactly a really important thing anyway.
I vote for /usr/share/doc/portage.
yeah, /usr/share/doc/${PF}/
Is there any chance something will actually happen with this report? Or shall we just close it?
...yeah, just move the file and close the bug... ;-)
# find /etc -iname '*example' /etc/conf.d/net.example /etc/conf.d/wireless.example /etc/make.conf.example /etc/X11/xorg.conf.example /etc/ppp/chap-secrets.example /etc/ppp/pap-secrets.example You're asking for more of a policy change than fixing something with portage. I'm sure there were originally more .example files than that on my system, but I've deleted most of them. If you really have a problem with this, bring it up on the gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list.
