I just wanted to emerge samba on a new amd64 machine and while emerging sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9 it stops at Check for -MD and nothing more happens, it just waits infinitely for this step to complete. The same occurs for sys-libs/talloc-2.0.7 with the same very dirty workaround.
This is quite a curious situation, please paste the output of emerge --info gcc-config -l I think something is wrong with your gcc...
Sigh... I can't reproduce it on the amd64 machine where it happened before... Even if I unmerge it first and also if I emerge the previous version first and do an update then. Closing the bug then...
