Running "ipython" or "ipython qtconsole" starts a shell using Python 2.7. On the other hand, running "ipython-qtconsole" starts a shell using Python 3.1 (and so does running "ipython-qtconsole-3.1"). Python 2.7 is my primary Python version, so "ipython-qtconsole" should start a shell with Python 2.7. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install dev-python/ipython-0.12-r1 2. run ipython-qtconsole Actual Results: ipython uses Python 3.1 Expected Results: should use 2.7 USE="qt4 readline smp -doc -emacs -examples -matplotlib -mongodb -notebook -sqlite -test -wxwidgets"
Build system of dev-python/ipython installs ipython-qtconsole script only with Python 3. You should report suggestion of changing it to upstream.
