I end up with an empty /usr/share/grub/themes/starfield directory causing a warning when running grub2-install. If I don't enable USE=truetype, there shouldn't be the empty directory there at all I guess.

The problem with grub-install has been resolved upstream.
You should see it the next beta release.

The empty directory still gets installed, but it should be harmless.

Confirmed: the fix for the grub-install warning is in beta 2.
