libreoffice-3.5.1.2 is just a release candidate, no stable release. even if it directly will get the next stable version, it is not ATM. 3.5.0.3 IS the latest stable release. I want to use latest available STABLE releases (that's why I use libreoffice-3.5, kde-4.8.1, ...) but NOT latest beta/RC, and so on. Removing 3.5.0.3 forces me to not do any updates until the next stable version hits the tree, moving libreoffice to a local overlay, using RC or going back to 3.4 (with all the issues I experienced...). I think I am not alone. So it would be really nice, if we could get the latest stable release (read: 3.5.0.3) back again. Reproducible: Always
3.5.1.2 is final release candidate pending release next week monday/tuesday/wednesday. Which will be renamed to final. Why would you consider not using RC that will be equal to final release is beyond my knowledge but feel free to downgrade in your local overlay. TBH that week for RC->final is there just if someone finds critical blocker that we manage to fix, which didn't really happen much. Also the 3.5.1 was supposed to be released this week but we slightly lagged and thats why it will be released next wednesday. There is currently only one reported bug against RC2 (RC1 actually) that has some priority after week in customer testing and 3 days after announcement. And that report is from some guy that is mixing issues and it won't be fixed within this release anyway. Also give it some testing as we will probably have to stabilise 3.5.1.2 because our 3.4 refuses to open password protected files and launches lo every time you open browser which is slightly major bug.
Sorry, did not know that RC2 is a real stable candidate. I am just afraid of bigger issues, as libreoffice is used quite heavy on that installation. If stable will get released this week, I will just wait with updates. I thought, we will see several RC-updates of libreoffice, abandoning a stable LO for weeks. The problem: internet connection 45 Kb/s makes downloading libreoffice-packages a work of hours, blocking normal workflow (internet gets sooo sloooow). I read in the forums about 3.5.0, that the last RC will just be renamed, and so I DID install it - some days later LO got released, with a reversioned package :( So this time I will wait for stable :)
Yep I am aware of that with 3.5.0 release. I really wanted that one to be always latest in testing as it helped me to catch lots of bugs in testing. 3.5.1 is no longer the case, I will add only the real releases in future because too much people complained that I use testing for the actual testing :) Btw you should consider using stable to keep your updates at lower pace, even I am using hardened stable :)
OK, libreoffice-3.5.1.2 got released as stable: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=src&version=3.5.1 Going to update in the afternoon.
