In KDE 3.1.5 and before I edited the file /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers, so that it looks like this: :0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X vt07 :0 :1 local reserve /usr/X11R6/bin/X vt08 :1 After changing the lines, KDE offered me an option like: "Start an new session" for starting an new KDE-session on the same computer (so you ca use it with two users). After upgrading to the new KDE-Version, I'm missing that option. Can you help me to reactivate this feature? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Change the file in the old KDE-Version 2. See the success 3. Upgrade Actual Results: I don't have the option to start an new session. Expected Results: Enable the option "Start an new Session" in the K-Menu
probably you should apply your modifications to /usr/kde/3.2/share/config/kdm/Xservers The reason is that the file /usr/kde/3.2/share/config/kdm/kdmrc as supplied by gentoo, points explicitely to files in /usr/kde/3.2/share/config/kdm/ However, this is configurable, in kdmrc you could change the line that reads Xservers=/usr/kde/3.2/share/config/kdm/Xservers
Can we close the bug? A solution is now available.
Closing as a fix is described.
