vlc-2.0 interface sometimes lacks for seconds. This occurs most commonly when changing the volume but can also effect the window resize. It happens regularly but I haven't found a pattern yet how to reproduce it intentionally. Such a thing never happened with vlc-1.x. well, really, there isnt much i can do for this, maybe you should try to contact upstream so that they can give you some advice on what to look at
