auto_gem is part of rubygems which is a dependency added by ruby-fakegem... something's wrong.

I don't know what portage did to get into this state, maybe different ruby targets on rubygems and yajl? Of course it happened in a convoluted automated archtesting script so that I can't really reproduce the state of the system when the bug happened. Anyway, after trying again it re-emerged rubygems with the system wide ruby targets and it worked. Sorry for the noise. Archtesting those ruby keywords is a PITA! Tons of cyclic deps, mess with different ruby targets, cryptic error messages, :(
