x86 has had gcc-2.95.3-r8 in stable for quite sometime -r8 has been in ~sparc for quite sometime also ... the question is, is there any reason for -r8 not to be moved into sparc stable ? just a refresher, -r7 is the non-SLOTable version of gcc while -r8 is
GCC 2.95.x is profile-masked on all sparc and sparc64 profiles. Just for the sake of it, I compiled -r8 and got an ugly compile error thrown at me. Might be that you cant compile GCC 2.95.x with GCC 3.3.x. And no, I wont setup a GCC 2.95.x based system just for test this :P I'll ask Weeve what we do with the (~)sparc keyword in those ebuilds.
