Build log

While building mplayer, I encountered a build error. My system was up to date as of Feb-21. My system has very little installed. X, synergy, awesome, alsa, and deps.

mplayer version: 1.0_rc4_p20110322

Error:
ppc/fft_altivec_s.S: Assembler messages:
ppc/fft_altivec_s.S:447: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `@'
ppc/fft_altivec_s.S:448: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `@'

The one thing i didn't see in the output of the included flies is my system profile. It is a ppc64-32ul.

I have included the build log, the environment dump in the build temp directory, the output of emerge --info <package> and the output of emerge -pqv <package>

Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-23 05:49:29 UTC
Try mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213 instead because mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20110322-r1 is deprecated
and the new version will be stabilized instead of trying to fix the old one (since it's known to be vulnerable with several security issues)

If mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213 works, close this off as RESOLVED, OBSOLETE

Thank you

That package is not available for my profile.

The following keyword changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by =media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213 (argument)
=media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213 **
#required by media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213, required by =media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213 (argument)
=media-video/ffmpeg-0.10 ~ppc

As an attempt i added keywords to allow for the merge. It failed as well. Different local but not work posting a bug as it was masked for known issues.

Comment 9 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-23 11:08:29 UTC
We still need the build.log from the newer mplayer since the older is not getting fixed anymore.

And the only reason it's not keyworded yet is bug 394805 (as in, no reason, nobody just tested it yet)

Comment 15 Alexis Ballier gentoo-dev 2012-02-23 16:57:09 UTC
you get this error because you are using ffmpeg-9999. try with ffmpeg-0.10
Comment 16 en0 2012-02-23 19:15:55 UTC
Ok, i was able to succesffully build with the following.

added line in: /etc/protage/package.accept_keywords
<media-video/mplayer-9999 **

installed with command line:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc" emerge -av =mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20120213

I recommend unmasking mplayer package for the ppc.

I'm up and running now, should i close this ticket as obsolete or is there action that needs to be taken to apply the appropriate keywords to the package atom?

Comment 18 dE 2012-03-20 16:26:27 UTC
Running ffmpeg 9999, it fails with the same error.
Comment 19 en0 2012-03-21 03:59:34 UTC
dE, please note that using ffmpeg 9999 was the cause of the issue. The solution was, for me, to accept keywords of ** for any package "LESS THAN" 9999.

/etc/portage/package.accept_keywords:
<media-video/mplayer-9999 **

closing as invalid, ffmpeg-9999 isnt supported unless you want to submit patches
mplayer is far from being the only one that will fail like this
-9999 is fixed though.
