In /etc/contab.daily, the default system installs two files: makewhatis.cron and slocate. Apparently, the .cron suffix is not required ... So I wonder whether it would be a good idea to name those files constistently either with or without that suffix? I'm in favor of leaving it out. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
i dont know of anything else that uses .cron ... kind of dumb imo
man and sysklogd uses .cron. Anybody know of anything else?
So, is there any chance of makeing the cron-script naming scheme consistent? Personally, I am in favor of using the .cron suffix consistently.
man now installs makewhatis (no .cron)
