Description Peter Simons 2004-02-05 10:59:06 UTC
In /etc/contab.daily, the default system installs two files: makewhatis.cron and slocate. Apparently, the .cron suffix is not required ... So I wonder whether it would be a good idea to name those files constistently either with or without that suffix?

I'm in favor of leaving it out.

man and sysklogd uses .cron. Anybody know of anything else?
Comment 3 Peter Simons 2004-04-05 08:48:11 UTC
So, is there any chance of makeing the cron-script naming scheme consistent? Personally, I am in favor of using the .cron suffix consistently.

man now installs makewhatis (no .cron)
