Description Oscar Juarez 2004-02-04 08:49:48 UTC
When trying to load Gentoo onto a blade PC I am unable to use my keyboard and mouse from a UHCI controller. The cd boots fine, but after the first "enter" of the keyboard I loose all keyboard functionality. My keyboard is driven from a UHCI controller. I have the same issue when trying to install RH9, but I have a work around by connecting the keyboard directly to the blade pc, installing RH9 rebooting then plugging my peripheral into my cport (cport port is located at the users desk). Please check out the ClearCube website. I am using one of their blade pc. I hope this helps.

Please call or email me I would like to try and resolve this issue as fast as possible.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use a ClearCube blade pc. (Contact me if you need me to send you a blade pc.) (www.clearcube.com)
2.Boot the Blade pc from the cport
3.Install starts fine.
4.After the first Gentoo install prompt keyboard is lost.

Please contact me and I will be glad to send you a blade and cage so maybe Gentoo can help me resolve my issue.

Actual Results:
I loose keyboard functionality.

I have a feeling that its a UHCI issue and need Gentoo's help to resolve it.
Thanks

Expected Results:
I would hopefully expect Gentoo to take me up on the offer to use some of our
Blade pcs and help me resolve my issue. If I get a response today I will P1
overnight it to you today. I would like to resolve the keyboard issue so I can
continue my Gentoo install.

Any info will help. Also please go to the ClearCube website so you can
understand what type of PC I am trying to install Gentoo on. THIS IS NOT AN
ADVERTISEMENT LETTER IN ANY WAY. I NEED HELP RESOLVING MY KEYBOARD ISSUE.

Thank you in advance. I hope someone will contact me soon.

what version livecd are you using, have you tried the 2004.0 livecd?
Comment 2 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-21 20:58:38 UTC
since the problem exists with redhat, I would imagine that it is a kernel usb bug. please contact the upstream dev.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
