Description Amadeusz Sławiński 2012-02-13 21:26:59 UTC
virtualbox with USE="extensions" should pax-mark -m /usr/lib64/virtualbox/VBoxSVC and add check/warning for it if possible to virtualbox-extpack-oracle, because it can be installed manually and not pulled by useflag

to use usb ports on hardened /usr/lib64/virtualbox/VBoxSVC needs '-m' pax flag otherwise it cannot load extensions

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start VirtualBox
2. check if extensions are loaded (File > Preferences > Extensions)
3. see '!' sign and mouseover for error ("Failed to load the main module ... Cannot open shared object file ...)
Actual Results:
When you start VM it cannot use usb ports in virtualbox

Expected Results:
Usable usb

Yep, VBoxSVC needs to be paxctl -m.

Feel free to do the necessary changes to the ebuild(s).

I did not touch the stable version 4.1.18, but moving forward, VBoxSVC will be pax marked -m.

Okay its not that simple, see bug #432260. My change yesterday has been reverted pending a better solution.

FYI, virtualbox works on hardened but the features pulled in by USE="extensions" are broken.
