Description Richard Yao (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-11 22:48:10 UTC
debianutils_4.0.3.tar.gz is no longer on the Debian mirrors or the Gentoo mirrors. A user in #gentoo-prefix passed this information to me. It breaks new Gentoo Prefix installs.
Comment 1 Eric Nichols 2012-02-12 01:17:18 UTC
I'm the user who reported the issue in #gentoo-prefix, I was able to get past the problem by having the distfile provided to me and it seems to work fine. Naturally, as already stated, this should be fixed since I searched extensively and couldn't find any public mirrors still hosting it.
Comment 2 Richard Yao (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-12 02:29:39 UTC
I am mirroring the file temporarily at my university. Anyone that needs it can get it from the following address:

http://www.cs.stonybrook.edu/~ryao/debianutils_4.0.3.tar.gz

This is on a strictly temporary basis, so please don't treat it as a long term mirror.

This bug is similar as 368313. \n The update of ebuild is non trivial considering debianutils-4-nongnu.patch. \n I have tried to use sys-apps/debianutils-4.2.1 directly from gentoo-x86 in a GNU prefix without problem. \n @grobian, what should be the long term solution, include the nongnu patch into x86?
Comment 4 Richard Yao (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-12 07:03:09 UTC
I have since confirmed this issue firsthand.

Until a more permanent solution is found, I suggest talking to infrastructure about reintroducing the tarball on the mirrors.
Comment 5 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2012-02-12 08:10:18 UTC
we should just upload the tarfile to the mirrors, and try to get newer debianutils going :/

short-term fix applied, uploaded and whitelisted
