==28987==    at 0x3802D297: ??? (in /usr/lib64/valgrind/memcheck-amd64-linux)

sched status:
  running_tid=0

(I compiled glibc with splitdebug and recompiled valgrind after that, as explained in the ebuild warning and in bug #214065)

Upstream says problem is corrected in 3.7. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277045

But 3.7 is broken on gentoo amd64 (bug #390323). And 3.5 does not compile with kernel 3.x series.

Reproducible: Always

valgrind-3.6.1-r1 should compile against linux 3.x series (bug #370857) and not hit bug #390323. Is there any reason why valgrind 3.6.1 doesn't work for you? I is possible for me to backport the linux 3.x patch to 3.5, but I don't see a point if 3.6 is working.

Are you emerge valgrind-3.6.1 or valgrind-3.6.1-r1 ? The difference between the two is

So summarizing:
* 3.6.1 does not compile,
* 3.6.1-r1 does compile but fails with "unhandled DW_OP_ opcode 0x2a" (for a full description, see the first comment).

The bugzilla upstream offers this patch http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=61618 which was committed to their svn. See comments 5 and 6 at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=277045#c5

Sorry for the confusion, I see the issue now. Please test valgrind-3.6.1-r3. It includes upstream commits r11856 and r11904.

I can confirm 3.6.1-r3 solves the problem. Thank you for the support!
