The difference between -r1 and -r2 is newer piepatchset, and -r1 is problematic in that regard, as can be seen in bug #394821. I have bootstrapped a full x86 system with -r2 without any issues.
Toolchain okay to stable?
Hold off for a week, I want to get http://gcc.gnu.org/PR51106 in.
Sorry, took me longer than I thought. Good to go now.

I'm using an icecc-cluster in a mixed x86/x86_64 environment for monthts, even if not years. Since updating to 4.5.3-r2 on feb-26th the cluster collapses with "cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libmpc.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" at all arches. Tried to rebuild gcc and libtool today but hopeless. Reverting to 4.5.3-r1 for now. I'm sure that there's something wrong deep inside gcc's guts on -r2 :(
