Additionally here the sed line, which I am using in /etc/portage/env/sci-libs/gdal:post_src_prepare() to prevent problems with the other patches: sed -e '/^LDFLAGS/s/-Xcompiler//' -i swig/ruby/RubyMakefile.mk
