Upstream needs to release an update for 2.9 versions. Try to migrate away from vga patch though. It does not play nicely at edge cases.
Gentoo should remove the USE Flag for 2.9.0x til upstream patches are available.
That will result in broken setups where users inadvertently emerge postfix without noticing that vda USE flag is gone. Correct action is to ditch the vda patch but that will also break vda users so we are stuck with it for now.
Isn't there a mechanism whereby emerge would require a USE flag change before attempting to build? At least that way vda users would be informed in a clean way rather than having an emerge failure.

Blocked vda USE flag with REQUIRED_USE. I will remove the block once upstream updates its patch for postfix-2.9 versions. + 13 Feb 2012; Eray Aslan <eras@gentoo.org> postfix-2.9.0.ebuild, + postfix-2.9.0-r1.ebuild: + block against broken vda patch until fixed upstream - bug #402369 + Once again, please try to migrate away from the vda patch if possible.
