Description A. Person 2012-02-05 20:50:20 UTC
I'm on an x86 hardened profile and I can't seem to compile gcc. I'm currently on gcc-4.3.4 and I can't recompile it or upgrade to gcc-4.5.3-r1. They both fail at the same point every time.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gcc
2.
3.
Actual Results:
i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: Internal error: Killed (program cc1)

Expected Results:
successful compile

# emerge --info =sys-devel/gcc-4.5.3-r1

I did an emerge -e world a few days ago and gcc and firefox are the only packages that won't compile.
Comment 3 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-06 19:58:15 UTC
Please attach one actual build log file, not config.log files.

Also, usually when cc1 gets killed, it's because you ran out of RAM. Perhaps it's some other mechanism that triggered this on hardened - you better check your dmesg output for the reason why cc1 got killed.
Comment 4 A. Person 2012-02-07 04:30:08 UTC
Thanks, it's working now. It could have been changing my locale from POSIX to UTF8 or maybe kernel changes.
