Description Alec Warner (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2012-02-03 19:28:28 UTC
19:22 <@darkside_> eg. the first communication about hummingbird in email was yesterday. that took two weeks besides "i *think* it is down and i *think* someone asked someone about
                   it" in irc chatter.
19:25 <@antarus> yeah we should have a bug about hummingbird
19:25 <@antarus> I'll file one now

18:06 <@idl0r> vzctl: hrm, can't access the IPMI dev atm.. so just checking the console for errors would be enough for now (incl. some details when available)
18:07 <+vzctl> ok, we'll check the console output next week
18:07 <@idl0r> vzctl: thanks
18:08 <@idl0r> robbat2: shouldn't we be able to connect to the IPMI dev via hornbill or the other ones?
18:29 <@antarus> idl0r: depends on how they have it wired up
18:40 <+vzctl> all the servers are in the same cabinet and I think they are connected to the same switch

In short, someone rebooted it and thought it was fine. They are getting us a console log so we can debug. They also offered to boot it to a LiveCD.

Antarus failed sources.gentoo.org to a different machine (motmot?, sources2.gentoo.org?) in the meantime.

10:03 <@robbat2> vzctl got back to me, hummingbird is hardware-dead. so sources needs to go somewhere else.
10:03 <@darkside_> well.
10:04 <@darkside_> if we re-evaluate the issue that caused the move in the first place. motmot's load is well contained now and i don't know what changed
10:04 <@idl0r> did he say what is broken?
10:04 <@robbat2> looks like motherboard failure
10:08 <@idl0r> what about the disks? re wiping specifically
10:08 <@idl0r> or even as spare disks
10:09 <@robbat2> i'll ask that the disks/ram get held as spares for the other h* boxes
10:10 <@idl0r> thanks
10:14 <@darkside_> imo, let's leave sources on motmot for now
10:14 <@darkside_> based on the above observations
10:14 <@idl0r> yup, that's fine
10:15 <@idl0r> i'm going to "retire" hummingbird then

Alec, please back out your changes for sending bots to "sources2" , remove the sources2 DNS entry, and any other cleanup.
Comment 2 Alec Warner (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2012-02-09 21:47:48 UTC
Sources2 redirects removed. We need to keep the ServerAlias and the DNS address for 'a while' until traffic to them spins down (search engine wise.)

Then I'll hit up the last bit of cleanup.

I guess we can finish this now, right?
Comment 4 Alec Warner (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2013-08-27 06:15:24 UTC
Yes, I unpublished sources2.gentoo.org, and I will remove the ServerAlias next week.

Dropped.
