The latest version of lilo forces TABLE and UNSAFE options mutualy incompatible. It is not possible to avoid a sanity checking of a valid boot signature of the first  sector of an ordinary partition. This was not the case in some older versions.

This feature causes a lot of problems for special installation procedures where somme operating system is installed later and so on. This sanity checking should be optional.
