Description David Li 2004-02-01 17:00:03 UTC
Epiphany crashes on start. I am new and I am not sure about this. I don't have galeon so is this considered a duplicate of bug 106600@bugs.gnome.org?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a folder containing a HTML file in Nautilus
2. Double-click on the HTML file (thus opening Epiphany)
Actual Results:
Epiphany crashes

Expected Results:
Epiphany displays the document

Comment 1 David Li 2004-02-01 17:23:47 UTC
On another note, for some reason, http://carmelhighschool.net/forum/phpBB2/ always causes mozilla quit. Can someone help me on how to post more technical info on this?
Comment 2 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-01 19:11:46 UTC
the first rule of debugging :
rebuild with lower CFLAGS. Try -O2 -pipe -march , only. Rebuild at least epiphany , probably also mozilla (moz has traditionally been sensitive to hard optimizations). If it still crashes, try USE="debug" emerge epiphany, so we can get a good stacktrace from it.
Comment 3 Philippe Laflamme 2004-02-08 10:03:49 UTC
I have the same problem: epiphany seg faults on startup.

I have version 1.0.6. I tried re-emerging the same version and I got this output:

configure: error:
*****************************************************************************
Epiphany can be built using Mozilla 1.4, 1.5a, 1.5b, 1.5 or
trunk snapshot, but the version available is 1.6.
...

Indeed, I have just upgraded to Mozilla 1.6. Emerging epiphany-1.0.7 fixed the problem. Could this be a dependency problem?
Comment 4 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-08 12:11:54 UTC
Well, you pulled out the heart of epiphany and replaced it with one a size larger, which pumps blood the wrong way... ;)

Cant fix that sort of problems, 1.0.6 epiphany isn't compatible with moz 1.6 . moz doesn't preserve binary compability.
