Start TigerVNC viewer session. Provide VNC server address and password, remote login screen (GDM) is presented. As soon as keyboard entry is made, viewer disappears and Read: Connection reset by peer (104) dialog box is presented.

1) Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment.
2) Also, provide the server's log as it should probably tell us why it
   disconnected (probably because it crashed).

I have had this issue for months. When I saw the Fedora patch in the thread mentioned I went ahead and applied the patch after deleting the included xserver11.patch.

Now working.

Had this bug months ago and the aforementioned patch fixed it for me as well — wasn't expecting to be coming back for it again but that's exactly what I've had to do.  Any chance of getting it added?

This is truly resolved with current stable tigervnc (1.1.0-r7).
